  • Scrolling window capture

    Select a region, scroll down; frames are stitched into one tall image. Press Enter to finish, Esc to cancel.

  • New blank canvas (Ctrl+N)

    Start a diagram from scratch; transparent canvas supported.

  • Quick tools after capture

    OCR and barcode buttons appear on the selected region right after capture.

When a web page, long table, or chat history does not fit on screen, select a region and scroll. SnippingApps stitches the frames automatically.

How to download and install

    Click the download button

    The "Download free for Windows" button on this page downloads the latest installer directly.

  2. 02

    Check the file

    The installer file is named EkranYakala-Setup-{version}.exe (about 20 MB today). That is the installer filename even for the international product name.

    If you download from GitHub, open Assets under the latest release and download only the .exe. "Source code (zip)" and "Source code (tar.gz)" are GitHub’s automatic archives; they do not contain the app.

    Start setup

    Double-click the downloaded file.

    If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" (SmartScreen): this is the standard warning for new or rarely downloaded apps. If you downloaded from this page or our official GitHub page, continue via More info › Run anyway.

    Finish setup

    Setup takes a few seconds.

    Take your first screenshot

    Open the app and choose a mode from the Capture menu.

    Stay up to date

    When a new version is available, SnippingApps notifies you and shows the release notes so you can update in one click.

Why is it free?

We built SnippingApps for our own team first—to explain support tickets, prepare documentation, and quickly read a code on screen. Once it proved useful, we decided to share it. There is no commercial purpose: no sales, subscription, or ads. Mavera Software develops and maintains the app.

Is SnippingApps really free?

Yes. Every feature is free—no trial, paid tier, or ads.

Can it be used as a Snagit alternative?

Yes. Snagit is sold under a paid license. SnippingApps covers everyday screenshot needs for free—region and scrolling capture, arrows, text, callouts, shapes, highlight, blur, effects, and a library—plus built-in OCR and barcode/QR reading.

Why does Windows show a warning?

SmartScreen shows a standard warning for new or rarely downloaded apps. If you used the official source, continue with "More info › Run anyway".

Which file should I download on GitHub?

The EkranYakala-Setup-….exe under Assets on the latest release (the installer file). "Source code" archives do not include the app.

How do updates work?

When a new version ships, the app shows a notification and opens the release notes.
